A Global Competencies Matrix + C3 + SDGs + PBL = A Formula for Success in Middle School Social Studies Classrooms

Your Name and Title:  Guy Hamlin, Middle School Teacher and #TeachSDGs Ambassador

School or Organization Name:  Troy Howard Middle School

Area of the World from Which You Will Present:  Belfast, Maine, USA

Language in Which You Will Present:  English

Target Audience(s): Middle and High School teachers

Short Session Description (one line): A Global Approach to Middle School Social Studies

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):  A Global Competencies Matrix + C3 + SDGs + PBL = A Formula for Success in Middle School Social Studies Classrooms

Participants can expect to learn about how the Asia Society Global Competencies Matrix, the C3 Framework for Social Studies, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can be combined into a meaningful project based learning platform that can transform your entire school year.

While the majority of the session will be taking a look at one teacher's iteration of a hybrid, global learning platform, participants will also be asked to actively participate with ideas about how such a platform, with appropriate adjustments, might work in their classroom or school.

The overall goal of the session is to allow teachers to see that global education doesn't have to be something "extra" that we do; it can be embedded into what we do in our classrooms all the time.
