This session explores how student use of “Scale” and “Scale Shifting” supports culturally responsive pedagogy in high school history classes. When used explicitly, the disciplinary practice elevates engagement with content, empowers students to think with a critical lens about the society in which they live. Participants will have the opportunity to explore a process used with teachers to build their capacity around skill, resources to use with students, and ways to implement this practice. Intentional connections between this practice and global citizenship education are made.
