Your Name and Title: Toni Olivieri-Barton, Director of Global and Tech Integration

School or Organization Name: Fountain Valley School of Colorado

Co-Presenter Name(s): Juliet Chi, '19, Student at Fountain Valley School

Area of the World from Which You Will Present: Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Language in Which You Will Present: English

Target Audience(s): High School Students or Teachers

Short Session Description (one line): Fountain Valley School is continuing the work of a former student where students volunteer to pack food that is uneaten during lunch and deliver to a local food pantry.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Fountain Valley School’s (FVS) partnership with Colorado Springs Food Rescue (CSFR) sprouted from a post-program project through the Experiment in International Living Leadership Institute (https://www.experiment.org/), where Izzy Nunez ‘17 studied public health in northern India. Nunez chose to reach out to CSFR because she had begun to see food rescue’s unique potential to reduce waste, help disadvantaged people, connect all types of organizations, and provide a local, relevant outlet for youth in a school setting. Juliet Chi '19 now runs the program with the help of Dr. Amber Gar, Director of Sustainability and Toni Olivieri-Barton.
