Short Session Description: 

This session is based on a project called “Global Media Literacy Project.” The study promotes STEM education through media education, offers creative strategies for producing media, for mentoring and tutoring over the internet with minimal resources. 

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

In this presentation, graduate students and teacher education faculty from USA, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan will share their students projects.
The research focuses on: (1) providing a cultural and linguistically responsive curriculum designed for high school students; 
(2) outlining multilingual and multicultural multimedia resources and projects; 
(3) identifying the participants' reactions, discoveries, and experiences with the project; and 
(4) showcases the process of developing learning objects such as digital storytelling projects using variety of resources (e.g powtoons, toondo, comiclife).
Participants (high school students) wrote a selfie poem (5 min) using scientific terms. Template-

We watched a short introduction to graphic novels and discussed the role of graphics novels, cartoons, and comics in education. Participants had a chance to show their projects and read their selfie poems.
