Broaden your cross-cultural competency and develop strategies to promote the success of immigrant and foreign students

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

We will explore the challenges immigrant and foreign students experience and then discuss strategies teachers can use to help them overcome those challenges, such as:

  • organizing the classroom to accommodate immigrant student needs,
  • incorporating immigrant students’ heritage culture in lessons,
  • reaching out to the students’ parents,
  • informing themselves about the student’s culture.

We will discuss where teachers can find online and community resources to assist them.
