What's the Big Idea?
The powerful interactions that happen when students gather in person are lost in most online learning experiences. Gather Education is a virtual online classroom that gives teachers the power to hold synchronous online classes from anywhere in the world.
What's This All About?
Technology is not the cure for higher education. The fuel of a truly powerful educational experience is the meaningful interaction that happens in person – whether it’s real time class activity, a group chat, or hands-on collaboration – and the technology that drives education forward will only improve on those interactions.
Current online learning experiences offer incredible opportunities to a wide demographic, but failure rates, plagiarism trends, and the limitations they place on the instructors themselves beg for a better way not only to learn online, but to teach online.
We’re working to design a solution that takes the power away from technology, and puts it back in the hands of the individual capable of driving a technology's success: the teacher.
In this presentation we’ll introduce the virtual classroom, discuss our passion for the potential of synchronous online learning, and cover how the technology can benefit instructors by replicating the in-person learning experience.
Gather Education is currently exploring the many ways a virtual online classroom can impact global education from Mandarin teaching centers based in China, Swedish MBA programs, students studying abroad, or innovative high school teachers looking to clear up class time by holding reviews from home.
We believe we can extend the reach of teachers and design a better online learning experience – by building technology that puts teachers back in the spotlight.
