Target Audience(s): K-12 educators, pre-service teachers
Short Session Description (one line): SDG 4 and Open Educational Resources
Full Session Description (as long as you would like): By 2030 the United Nations aims to have all girls and boys complete a free, quality and equitable primary and secondary education. Education for all thus requires a re-positioning of how educational resources are created and shared. Since 2002, open educational resources (OER) have been part of the strategy to meet SDG 4 and related SDG goals.
Although nearly twenty years old, teachers are still learning about OER and need to stay up-to date. What is required to reuse, revise or remix an OER? How can quality be assured? How does OER relate to open pedagogy? What global organizations are knowledgeable about the use of OER for K-12 teachers and students? This presentation will help to further awareness and understanding of the role of OER in meeting SDG 4.
