The workforce needs qualified and prepared professionals who are digitally literate and able to be lifelong learners.
This presentation provides participants with a comprehensive overview of coding programs targeting youth, especially in Africa. Coding programs teach topics including programming, robotics, and 3D printing.
This presentation covers the key skills students acquire in such programs – from computation thinking and visual thinking to leadership and teamwork. It describes the offerings, and their methodologies, partnerships, strengths and weaknesses.
This presentation also discusses the necessity of building programs with engaging and culturally relevant curricula for Africa. It covers programs for empowering girls and attracting more women and disadvantaged youth into the technology field. A specific emphasis is on how these programs can be replicated and scaled to grow regionally and nationally.
