Full Session Description: The presenter will explore her experience with the Volstate Seal of Biliteracy which is now available to seniors in the State of Tennessee. The seal certifies that students are literate in two or more languages. The presenter will discuss the requirements for qualifying for the seal and elaborate on benefits to the students, especially in terms of employability. As global citizens, biliterate students are able to participate in their communities more efficiently, making more meaningful communication with people of other cultures a reality. Additionally, the Seal of Biliteracy is a source of pride for the students' parents, rewarding their efforts to raise bilingual children in a world that has become increasigly difficult for some immigrants.
Hi Ruth -
Thank you for your proposal! Can you add language to your submission that ties biliteracy to the development of global competence in students? We need to see specific language that will explain how your topic related to our mission: http://www.globaleducationconference.org/page/our-mission.
Once you've edited your proposal, let me know and I'll accept this submission for the conference!
