About Me or Reason for Joining the GEC:
Since leaving full-time work in schools just over 6 years ago (latterly as head of an IB school), I've been working on global education - with IB, with other organisations and publishers, writing ("Educating for global citizenship - a practical guide for schools" published by International Baccalaureate in 2009), and starting the International Global Citizen's Award - a grassroots programme for schools to encourage and recognise development of young people as global citizens.

Want to connect with educators around the world - it's important to global( citizenship) education to develop on a global front.

"Global lessons" for Earth Day, 22 April

As many of you will know, 22 April is Earth Day. 2010 is the 40th anniversary of this occasion, which originated in the USA. Last year, at the instigation of Bolivia's President Evo Morales, the UN also designated the day International Mother Earth Day, and this year is the first year of its celebration.
