Thank you, Lucy and Steve

Wow, what an amazing event this is/was!  I'm in awe of the two of you and the amount of work this must have taken.  And to record ALL of it so that we can catch the presentations we missed, well done!  I'm hoping to find time to review all of the sessions that had to do with real-time collaboration among students of different countries/cultures.  Although this one isn't on that topic, Albania shares a border with Macedonia (and it's not always an amicable relationship) and I've lived in…

A world of dream

This was my 1st virtual conference. Global education Conference 2013 was an outstanding event that can change the scenario of the world of education. Researchers, educators, philosopher and thinkers are able to present their potential ideas in front of a huge audience of the globe. On the other hand attendees have a wonderful chance to join a conference and share with the speakers online. My heart felt thanks to the organizer of the conference. To me it…

My experience of The Global Educational Conference 2013

This was my first time to join The Global Educational Conference, and I loved it. It surely was insightful. I’ve learned new technology tips which I can use in my classroom. It was really interesting to listen to people from all over the world and to interact with them. I love the idea of sharing ideas, perspectives, projects and experiences globally. I found The Global Education Conference to be as its aim suggested. It was collaborative and inclusive and it increased my opportunities to…

Global Education: The title says all

This was my first time to join The Global Educational Conference, and I loved it! It surely was remarkable. I’ve learned new technology tips which I can use with my students. One great disappointment I had was that I couldn’t attend them all. Now that I know I can download the recorded sessions, I’m more than grateful.  Thank you!  :)

Bringing the World into your Classroom by G. Murphy

I watched the recording of this session and found it quite simple. Knowmyworld.org elaborated by the Murphy is a unique way of knowing the day to day life of different cultures of the world. There are numerous researchers who are always curious to know about the cultures of various places of the world. This site is best for the teachers as well in a sense that they can inquire about the successful practices from their counterparts around the world. In the same way we can exchange how reading…

GEC 2013

Hello, Everyone.

Hope all is well.

This is my first GEC, and I have found the community to be full of progressive, forward thinking individuals, who all appear to have left, are leaving, and will leave their mark on education, on teachers, on students, on policy, and the wider society.

In total, I attended 17 live sessions (though I did have connection difficulties in a couple of them). Overall, the experience was cumulative.

Each session offered perspectives on…

Global Perspectives on Grading and Assessment

I attended a presentation held by Dr Bernard. He tackled a very important issue related to grading and assessment. The work backs me up with clear insights about the differences between summative and formative evaluation. Most importantly, he emphasized on the notion of learning instead of the culture of earning. In other words, the evaluation should focuss on learners' continuous development and not on production.Dr Bernard suggested some other alternative techniques that call for authentic… Continue

Collaboration in education

I teach English to middle and senior students in Nikopol, Ukraine. I`ve attended a lot of sessions of the Global Education Conference this year. I thank all presenters and volunteers who`s organised and conducted the conference. But I was really amazed   by Noel Feria`s techniques for empowering studentsto become more active in their collaborationMy students are 14 – 17 years old. I have been an English teacher for 19 years. Since 2010, I have been using global collaboration as a teaching…

born into conflict

I had the amazing opportunity to moderate a session by Atilla Nagy from Kosovo on “how to teach in an ex-conflict area”. While a war is no longer raging there, conflict certainly is. Mitrovica is a city divided by a river, language, culture, ethnicity, politics & laws. He’s teaching law in a city with two factions that don’t even…

Helping Learners Develop Personal Learning Networks

It was great to explore ways that  help learners develop worldwide personal learning networks that cultivate the important mindset and skill set of self-directed learning and collaboration across networks. Personal learning networks have proven to be important for both students and teachers learners as they discover the power of self-directed learning and building meaningful…

What an experience!!!

This is the first time that I attend the Global Education Conference, and I found it absolutely useful and inspiring! It was really interesting to listen to people from all over the world and to interact with them. I love the idea of sharing ideas, perspectives, projects and experiences globally. It was a woderful experience and I can´t wait until I put into practise what I learned. This conference motivated me to a great extent and if I had to choose one Word to define it, that word would…

THE INSPIRATION TRULY LIVES ON...Taking back the memories of the GlobalEdCon13

It was a chilly Saturday Nov. 16, 2013 and all I could recall is that I was struggling with Blackboard Collaborate, a New tool to cheerfully close 2013 to me. Shaken and hoping I managed to launch a Ticket under Lucy's +1 service help to have my Blackboard files open. I was too desperate not to miss a single bit of what I had fallen into- the Treasure of getting along with globalized educators, communicators, Tech savvy and brilliant brains living their inspiration and passing it on…

First of all I must say thanks to all organizers, sponsors and presenters in this Conference.I'm here for the first time and I like it. I'm happy that i found out about the new ways of teaching, new technology and opportunities. New world for education

The conference makes a new world for education. As a citizen of developing country we have very limited ability to attend any global conference which is related education. But attending via online is a new platform for us. I think this conference should continue more and more to create a new interactive and participatory international level conference. Due to my hectic schedule, i couldn't attend all session but i hope will do participate all session in future. Building Citizenship is a nice…
