A circular released by the Ministry of Education and Sports orders all schools in the country to close on August 6 instead of August 13 as stated in the national school calendar.
The directive also brings forward the reporting date for third term to
August 23, instead of September 6. “This will provide two weeks of
remedial work in preparation for final written and practical
examinations,” states the directive.
Since some schools may temporarily close as candidate classes sit for exams, the ministry thought it necessary to give time for schools to sufficiently cover the curriculum and prepare candidates for national examinations.
