Facebook Banned or Encouraged in School… It Doesn’t Really Matter

I'm sure many of you have heard about access to Facebook being banned in certain schools and school boards. Security and safety appear to be the prime reason.

The other day I was surprised to hear about a local school board, actually encouraging each school to have a Facebook site for access by staff, parents and students. This prompted further debate about security and other issues.

I won't enter the debate either way. I clearly understand the potential problems, but I also feel there is value.

On the other hand, what we are doing at Interactyx, with our TOPYX eLearning platform is quite interesting: If a school wishes to integrate Facebook into their eLearning platform, they simply "turn on" Facebook, and this allows teachers and students to integrate their Facebok IDs and / or pages into the learning process.
