About Me or Reason for Joining the GEC:
GEC Partner/Sponsor: Dr. Tonya Muro is the Executive Director of iEARN-USA (International Education and Resource Network), a global learning NGO. In this capacity, she leads an intrepid team, and sets strategy on how to connect educators and students to on-line learning known as virtual exchange. Previously, Tonya was the Director of School Outreach and Educational Partnerships at AFS-USA, an intercultural learning organization, and IIE Generation Study Abroad partner. Tonya was also the Program Director at Global Nomads Group, an NGO that fosters dialogue and understanding amongst the world’s youth through virtual exchanges. Tonya holds an Ed.D. and M.A. in International Educational Development from Columbia University’s Teachers College, where she was a U.S. Fulbright scholar in Tanzania. She received her B.A. in Primary Education and Spanish from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). She is also a published author and amateur singer. However, her greatest education is being a mother of twin daughters, to whom her efforts to advance global citizenship are dedicated.
